Iris aren't the only flowers in bloom right now. The cactus I keep outside my apartment recently erupted into a lovely display of bright orange flowers (far brighter than what my sketch suggests here, but that's what you get for using cheap acrylics for sketching).
My parents bought me this cactus as a housewarming gift when they helped me move to Roswell last July. The person at the nursery advised me to do nothing with the plant in terms of watering and other care, so I've ignored the cactus ever since. Apparently it does prefer to be left alone, for as the flowers indicate, it's doing quite well.
