Last week I was in Jemez Springs on a curatorial trip. Rather than try to make the drive to Jemez Springs and back in one day, I decided to stay overnight. Normally I stay at inexpensive motels, but this time I got a deal at a guest house with beautiful gardens.
Early the next morning, I took a walk in the gardens, which were replete with snails. I can't remember the last time I'd seen so many. Naturally I had my sketchbook and stopped to draw them:
