Sketch of the Week: Bison

The Spring River Zoo has a peculiar mixture of animals. There are petting-zoo type creatures such as goats, but also ducks, eagles, and mountain lions. Not to mention peacocks wandering about in the open.

Then there are the bison. I saw them plenty of times in Wyoming when I interned at the National Museum of Wildlife Art back in 2010, but I'm always impressed by their size. I can only begin to imagine how overwhelming they must have been en masse prior to the nineteenth century, before their herds were all but decimated.
