Sketch of the Week: Heirloom Bust

I recently inherited a small plaster bust from my paternal grandmother. It's by American sculptor Daniel Chester French (a distant relative on my dad's side of the family), and probably measures about 8". My aunt was cleaning out my grandparent's house after selling it for them, and given my background in art history, she thought I should be the one to look after her.

I remembered glimpsing this little lady in one of my grandmother's china cabinets whenever I visited, but being so high up and behind glass, I could never see her that well. Now that she's with me, I'm getting to know her a little better through some sketching.
