Sketch of the Week: Roswell Iris 5

I'd been itching to sketch the iris in Roswell all during the first week of May, as these flowers are so ephemeral that you've only got a window of a few days to get them before they start to wilt. Between the endless wind, a quick excursion to Taos, and an after-hours events at the Museum though, I hadn't been out drawing them. One late afternoon on a Friday, however, the wind was quiet enough for me to go out and draw:

I began feeling better as soon as I put the pen to paper. Drawing is a great way to release anxiety and pent-up energy, all while taking time to look around at the beauty around you.
