Last year I sketched an iris that featured both light lavender petals and dark purple ones. I didn't have any paints on me at the time, so I used charcoal sticks to evoke the different values. The sketch turned out great, but I'd always wondered how it would have looked in color. A year later then, I made sure to have my paints on me in case I found another one. Soon enough, I did:
