After living in Vermont for over a year and a half, I finally went to ECHO aquarium in Burlington last weekend. As far as aquariums go it's modest in scale, and concentrates primarily on the Lake Champlain ecosystem. That's perfect for me though, since one of the projects I'm considering tackling involves Vermont ecology, so the aquarium a great study area. The challenge is maintaining your concentration while small children scuttle around you to check out the critters.
Here are some frogs I drew. Unlike the rest of the aquarium, the frog exhibit has an international selection. From the ubiquitous bullfrog to the spiky Malayan leaf frog, ECHO has a little of everything when it comes to these amphibians.
What's your favorite kind of frog?

I'm not sure I have a favorite frog, but I'm fond of the American Toad, bufo americanus americanus. I like those Malayan Leaf frog sketches. A lot of character in those lines.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like them! I was a fan of the red eyed tree frog as a kid, but these days I find all frogs fascinating.
