This early Roswell sketch is one of my sole artistic interactions with the New Mexico Military Institute:
Founded in the late 19th century, the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) is a military-style boarding school, and it's a fairly prominent part of my daily life. It's about a five-minute walk from my apartment, and I'm regularly on campus to use its public gym or attend community band rehearsals.
For all its prominence, however, I've never really found myself sketching it. It's definitely got some distinctive architecture, but I don't feel especially compelled to draw it, not now at least. Maybe it's too precise and orderly for me. I seem to like the more run-down structures in town.
