Sketch of the Week: Parsnips

One night when I was still living in Shelburne I was preparing something with parsnips, and decided to sketch them before peeling and chopping them up, since I found their forms interesting.

At the time I was thinking of doing a print with them, but given the whole organic food movement in Vermont, food imagery, particularly that of the vegetarian ilk (think Eat More Kale), was so ubiquitous that I quickly lost interest in it. Still, it was a good exercise in observation, though I could have been more subtle with the general outlines.
