One can find quite a few cottonwoods out in the Jemez Springs areas. They can be rather dramatic trees with tortuous, twisting limbs and deeply grooved bark. This one was drawn out at an artist's guest house I was staying at while visiting his collection. The architectural structure you see below is actually a second cottage on the property.
