Living out West, it's not unusual to encounter large insects and arachnids. During my time here, I've encountered vinegaroons, tarantulas, scorpions, centipedes, moths, and a plethora of other buggies. These I see regularly enough, but the other day, I encountered a cicada. I've run into these before, but it's the first one I've seen in Roswell. It was quite dead by the time I found it, so I took it home to do some sketching.
Maybe it's their bulbous form, or the peculiar elliptical shape of their eyes, but cicadas remind me of spaceships.
