Sketch of the Week: Digital Red Prairie Coneflower

It may be late September, but Roswell still has plenty of flowers coming into bloom. While out walking by the bird refuge the other day, I encountered a marvelous cluster of red prairie coneflowers. I didn't have my sketchbook, but I did have my phone, so I quickly drew a couple of them:

I loved the simple boldness of these blooms. Those red petals, outlined in bright yellow, were fearless. I could see this making for a nice color linocut, something calling for bold color.
