I love the silos at Los Poblanos. Their weathered, textured surface conveys a great sense of history, making their deceptively simply forms all the more complex as you look at them. The first time I visited I drew them head-on, but on a more recent trip I drew them from an angle:
I drew this particular scene because I liked the contrast between the shiny tin roof on the building in front of the silos, the more matte, cream-colored textures of the silos themselves, and the craggy bark of the cottonwood tree behind them. If I were to ever do anything with it it'd probably be as a painting so I could emphasize these different tactile surfaces.
