Today's sketch is a study for my first attempt at white-line linocut. I decided to keep it simple and did a small iris based on a drawing I'd done at the Hondo Iris Farm one spring. Before taking on the carving process, I tested out a couple of color schemes to see how much variety I could get. At this point I don't even remember what the original colors in the flower were anymore, possibly blue and white.
Unlike so many of my projects, I actually did end up making this, and created a few greeting cards.
