Here's another iris I sketched alongside the First Baptist Church in Roswell. This was the lone red bloom among a sea of yellow and white blossoms, so naturally it attracted my attention. I liked the different colors in its petals, from deep purple-red to yellow orange, resulting in a flower with a lot of visual depth. For the shadows on the petals I used light washes of black ink.
One of these days I just need to get my good watercolor paper and go draw en plein air, as I really think a lot of my best works are my sketches.
