I wasn't sketching that much in the weeks leading up to the opening of Magical and Real, mostly because I was putting my creative energy into the show, and feeling too tired at the end of each day to do much of anything. was feeling too tired at the end of each day. Now that the exhibition is open, however, I've been picking up my sketchbook again, beginning with a drawing of a beautiful bouquet my parents sent me:
I love the sculptural quality of the lilies, and the multifaceted ways in which they reflect light. I also like the juxtaposition between the crisp, white lilies and the deeply saturated red roses.
