A few years ago I was housesitting for a family in town. Being the holiday season, they had hung these star-shaped paper lantern in the window, provided a welcoming astral glow at night. I liked the intricacy of the cut paper patterns against the colors of the evening sky, so I evening I took the time to draw them.
Now that I'm looking at it with fresh eyes, I realize that the tree in the background bears an uncanny resemblance to an aquatint I made shortly before I moved to New Mexico, just reversed.
