Like most young cats, Gustave explodes with energy. Playtime is filled with leaping and jumping, and when I'm not entertaining him he keeps himself amused by knocking things over, racing around the apartment, and talking to himself.
Even energetic kitties relish naptime though, as was the case one evening when I was doing a few studies of bird feathers for a future project. I still had my pen and ink out, so in a moment of spontaneity I sketched Gustave as he slept on the loveseat, one of his favorite places.
There's something about the sight of a dozing cat that makes a place feel more like a home, at least to me.
