During my daily walk to work it's not uncommon to find dove feathers strewn about the ground, including these:
Doves are plentiful in this area, and while many regard them as a nuisance, I've still been wanting to do some studies with them for some time. Finding a dead dove literally sitting on a bridge post was a serendipitous situation, but I also regularly draw the loose feathers I encounter.
I did a similar group of studies for a starling I found about a year ago. After all, if a dead bird is intact and at your feet, you should take advantage of the situation. While I haven't done anything with those drawings, I have plans for both the starling and the dove in the future.
