Sketch of the Week: Gustave and Chair

Recently I've found myself drawing Gustave in various places around the house. Many of these drawings have been focused on doorways and similar liminal spaces, where his wide-eyed stare becomes especially bemusing. The latest of these sketches, however, find Gustave dozing on my reading chair, his normally engulfing gaze reduced to two drowsy slits:

I like the contrasting patterns of these scene, from the striped musical pillows, to the dense botanicals on the tapestry-like curtains, to the elaborate alternations between stripes and floral forms on the chair itself. Maybe it's just me, but this sketch, what with its different patterns organized by the clean, curving lines defining the chair, pillows and curtains, has the feel of a children's book illustration, though which book is beyond me.
